My Take on Thanksgiving Day!

#1. My Take on Thanksgiving Day!

My Take on Thanksgiving Day!

Thanksgiving day is a glorious and joyous time of year! I look send to Thanksgiving Day for many weeks before the actual big day. I love to cook, I am a total foodie, and Thanksgiving day is my time to shine in the kitchen. I like to familiarize my friends and family to sit back and relax, loosen those pants and enjoy the feast that is about to come upon us!

My Take on Thanksgiving Day!

To start out my Thanksgiving day celebration I like to put out a platter of delights to nibble on. The appetizer platter is typically one laden with salty fare such as: cheddar cheese, pickles, olives, celery, carrots, peppers, pickled garlic and crackers. Along side the savory platter I like to also offer varied sweets such as: grapes, berries, diminutive fours and varied candies. There is something for everyone to snack on as the main meal is being ready with love.

As everyone is snacking and nibbling on the appetizer tray I like to invite any kids in the kitchen to help out with the diminutive things. Of course they will not be cutting the turkey but they can do things such as: putting biscuits and crescent rolls in their baskets, placing the cranberry dressing in a pretty crystal bowl or setting the table. I like to set the table with mix and match types of settings. My beloved setting is one that uses varied colors of bowls and dishes in Autumn hues such as: reds, browns, oranges and yellows.

To decorate the table I like to find a pretty tablecloth. Something uncomplicated in a pretty shade of red. I like to put a integrate candles in the center of the table as well. I typically choose unscented candles as I do not want to detract from the yummy smells of the food! I also like to decorate with Autumn leaves you can find at Hobby Lobby or Michael's.

Once the table has been set with the standard dishes and silverware, I bring in the food. I like to use an old platter my grandmother gave me to place the turkey on. I only use this once a year and it is for Thanksgiving dinner. I also place large bowls of mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, cranberry dressing and stuffing in the middle of the table.

After everyone has completed their Thanksgiving day evening meal I bring in the desserts. Typically I serve four or five. Of course, pumpkin pie is one of them. My other favorites to serve is pumpkin cheesecake, lemon meringue pie, cherry pie and something with chocolate, of course!
